As Deltans clamour for a successful successor to Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan ahead of the 2015 gubernatorial poll, prominent politicians in Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State has called on Chief Godwill Obielum to contest for the governorship position of the state in 2015.
Chief Hon. Mike Eku at a meeting of Delta Progressive Movement (DPM), Ika South Local Government Chapter held at Abavo said, he has come out to campaign for the emergence of Chief Obielum as the Governor of Delta State in 2015.
According to him, “as a politician, as a Deltan, I have seen that Chief Obielum is a credible and matured person to govern Delta State and we want him to contest for the position which he vied for in 2007.”
“Since 2007, Chief Obielum has been involved in the building of our party, the People’s Democratic Party, he has been involved in the development of our state and despite what happened in 2007, you cannot see desperation in him, he is matured and organized and capable of leading our state in 2015,” Chief Hon. Mike Eku said.
He emphasized that notable politicians in Ika South Local Government Area are working for the emergence of Chief Godwill Obielum as Governor in 2015, stating, “Chief Obielum has no option, he should come out to contest for the governorship position, he is a nice man, very intelligent and with his security background, he is an asset to our state.”
Also speaking at the meeting, Mrs Franca Ojebor said, “DPM is made of people of like minds, progressive people who believes that Chief Obielum should be the next Governor of Delta State on the PDP platform, this is a movement and nobody is being forced to join us and I can tell you that everyday, our membership is increasing because, Chief Obielum is a good product to market, there is no ward or village in the state that his good works have not been felt either through his personal attention or through the Obielum Foundation.”
“I join in the call for Chief Obielum to contest for the governorship position of our state and I can tell you that most Deltans are calling on him to contest for the position and his emergence as governor will give a boost to our party, the PDP and our great state, Delta,” Mrs Franca Ojebor .
Others who spoke at the meeting which witnessed a huge attendance said it was important for Chief Obielum to emerge as the next Governor of Delta State assuring that they will work with people from different parts of the state for them to see reasons to support Chief Obielum.
Recall that notable politicians in Ika North East local government area of Delta state had earlier given their full support to Chief Obielum as a result of his political contributions and unique endearment to the people.
