BREAKING NEWS: NIGERIAN EMBASSY’S VEHICLE SET ABLAZE IN GABON

Libreville, 16, April, 2015:

Blank NEWS Online can report that a vehicle belonging to the Embassy of Nigeria in Gabon was set ablaze on Sunday by rioters.

The vehicle, a Toyota mini jeep with matriculate number 097CD016 was completely burnt down on Sunday’s evening in Libreville, Gabon. The wife of the accountant of the Embassy of Nigeria, Mrs Ala James also escaped death during the attack.

According to our reporter, the capital city of Libreville, Gabon witnessed uproar on Sunday evening as riots broke out following the death of an opposition leader, Mr Andre Mba Obame. Immediately the death was announced, opposition supporters rampaging through the streets setting buildings and vehicles on fire.

Blank News Online gathered that many rioters took to the streets of Libreville and they started to vandalize properties and vehicles. The Embassy of Benin and government service cars were burnt in Sunday’s violence. The service vehicle of the Embassy of Nigeria was burnt in Sunday’s violence. Dozen other vehicles and private properties were also vandalized.

The accountant of Nigerian Embassy in Gabon, Mr Ala James who related to our reporters described the incidence as unfortunate as they attacked vehicles with diplomatic matriculations. According to him, his wife went out with the car. He said; “the car was parked along the road, but my wife was in a store nearby, and having noticed that the owner of the car was in the store, they attacked the store”, this is unfortunate.

The rioters got to the shop and were shouting and demanding to know the owner of the car with diplomatic matriculation. Having forced their way into the store everybody ran out and were dispersed in different directions. Mr Ala James said: “My wife escaped because they did know the owner of the car with diplomatic number”. Mr Ala James acknowledged the miracle of God that saved the life of his wife.

He affirms to our reporters that when the mobs spotted his wife running towards the car, she was pursued but she jumped into car parked by the roadside by a couple and she laid flat inside. The car has tinted glasses. The mobs arrived the scene and queried the couple about her whereabouts but the couple directed them towards an uncompleted building opposite. As the mobs dashed into the uncompleted building in search of her the couple speeds off. She was driven to the Embassy.

The tension of the violence was high in Libreville. Mr Andre Mba Obame died on Sunday in Yaounde, the capital of neighbouring Cameroon, aged 57. There was no cause of death mentioned in the statement from the National Union, the political party which he had joined in 2009. He had been frequently absent from the country for health reasons.

Mr Andre Mba Obame served as an adviser to longtime President Omar Bongo Ondimba, eventually rising to the post of minister of the interior. However, he broke with the ruling party to run for the presidency as an independent following Bongo Ondimba’s death in 2009.
