DELTA POLICE MOPS UP CRIMINALS, KIDNAPPERS, TRAFFICKERS,  KILL ARMED ROBBER, RESCUE VICTIMS

The Delta State Police Command has embarked on what it regarded as general mop up of vicious criminal elements in the State. It could be recalled that in the Warri axis, on 26/5/2014 Police patrol team from ‘B’ Division Warri recovered one locally made cut to size double barrel gun and seven live cartridges from fleeing armed robbers. On 28/5/2014 through
diligent investigation, Ekpan Division detectives arrested four hoodlums who
snatched a Highlander Jeep with Reg. No. KJA 696 CD and a Toyota Corolla car with Reg. No. FKJ 822CL. The Jeep and the car were recovered in Kaduna.

Equally, on 02/6/2014 at about 2030hrs, Anti-Crime patrol team from Expan Division gunned down two unidentified vicious armed robbers in a gun duel and recovered a snatched Volkswagen passat 2006 model with Reg. No.JL 781 EKY and a Toyota Camry with Reg. No.BB 294 USL. One locally made pistol, two live cartridges and two expended cartridges were recovered.

In Abraka, four notorious armed robbers were fatally wounded. In Warri QRS arrested two dire hard armed robbers. Also in Obiaruku, on 31/5/2014 Police operatives on surveillance patrol at Rico Petrol Station Obiaruku arrested two suspects and recovered one pump action gun, seven rounds of 9mm live ammunition and one expended cartridge.

The Command has so far recovered over 90 arms and 880 assorted ammunition. 171 armed robbers/kidnappers have been arrested since the year
while over 46 have been fatally wounded.

The Command wishes to warn mischief makers in the State to have a change of heart or face the full weight of the law.

In another development, on 28/5/2904 at about 1015hrs, one
Felicity Oduone ‘m’ with- drew the sum of one hundred and twenty thousand naira (N120, 000.00) from IBTC Bank Ogunu Road Warri. On his way home, seven armed men in two Camry cars attempted to rob him of the money.

Consequently he raised alarm which attracted a nearby Police Patrol team. The patrol team gave the hoodlums a hot chase and in the ensuing gun duel one of the armed robbers later identified as Andrew Isaac ‘m’ was gunned down while others escaped.

Meanwhile, effort is being intensified to track down the fleeing hoodlums.

Similarly, on 30/5/2014 at about 1911hrs, one Kingsley Mordi ‘m’, Chairman of Issele Azagba vigilante group reported at Special Anti-kidnapping Squad Office Asaba in company of one Rosemary Chukwu ‘f’, a pregnant lady that the said Rosemary Chukwu was brought to Issele-Azagba town by one Uwandu Kelechi ‘m’ who deceitfully promised to help her because
of her condition.

However, she later discovered that the said Uwandu Kelechi is a member of a child trafficking syndicate and that he was making efforts to sell the unborn baby for seventy thousand Naira (N70,000.00).

This prompted the victim to raise alarm leading to the arrest of the said Uwandu Kelechi. The suspect confessed to the crime and mentioned one Dr. Daniel Ikebuilo ‘m’, Medical Director in charge of Ikemefune Hospital and Maternity, Ngbuike, Umunachi in Anambra State as his accomplice. The said Dr. Daniel Ikebuilo has been arrested. Both suspects are helping the Command in the investigation.

Meanwhile, investigation is in progress. The suspects will be made to face the full wrath of the law.

Furthermore, on 3/6/2014 at about 1830hrs, the Police at ‘B’ Division Asaba received information that one Mrs. Ibezimakor Chinelo ‘f’ attached to NCSDC Delta State Command was kidnapped along Asaba/Benin express way by Oshimili South L.G Secretariat, Asaba. Based on the information, ‘B’ Div. Asaba Operatives mobilized to the area and gave the hoodlums who were operating in a Delta state taxi coloured Jetta car a hot chase. As the team was closing on the criminals, they attempted to push the victim down. In the process, the four suspects namely: James Aleato (m), aged 62yrs, Ikechukwu Abua (m), aged 35yrs, Efe Ono (m), aged 33yrs, and Favour Okonkwo (F) were arrested by Kia Motors near Summit Junction, Asaba, while the victim was rescued unhurt. The suspects had demanded the sum N10m ransom from the victim. They have confessed to the crime. Investigation
into the matter is in progress. The suspects will be made to face the full
wrath of the law.

Also among the successes recorded by the police was the arrest of robbers with firearms.

On 27/5/2014, one Paul Yaovnyi ‘m’ of Kpakiama town reported that on 19/5/2014 at about 2130hrs, one Happy Krokeme ‘m’ and two others snatched his unregistered Lifan motorcycle valued N94,000.00 along Bomadi/Oboro Road. Sequel to the report, SARS Operatives based at Ughelli swung into action and arrested the said Happy Krokeme and one Barrister Akara ‘m’ alias Solo.

Items recovered from them include:
i. One locally made pistol
ii. One unregistered Lifan motorcycle
Meanwhile, efforts are on to arrest one Lucky ‘m’ alias Senior Man, confessed by the gang members.

While also on 4/6/2014 at about 2030hrs three armed
men attacked students of Niger Delta Oil and Gas Technical Skill Acquisition
Centre, Usiefrun in Ughelli South L.G.A and robbed them of handsets, five
laptops and money on gun point.

However, SARS Patrol team intercepted the armed robbers in a tricycle on the road near Mofor and arrested one Mike Agoreyo ‘m’, aged 22yrs while the rest two escaped.

Items recovered from him include five (5) laptops and thirteen (13) assorted
handsets. Investigation is in progress, while efforts are on to track down the fleeing suspects.
