EMPOWERMENT: BASHORUN ASKIA DOLES OUT BIZ FUNDS, FARM SEEDLINGS TO MARKET WOMEN, FARMERS, OTHERS IN ISOKO

Blank NEWS Online (NIGERIA) –By Albert OGRAKA:

In fulfillment of the promises made during the 2019 elections, the Managing Director/CEO, Bashorun (Hon.) Askia Ogieh, (FCNA, CrFA), through the Bashorun Askia Foundation (BAF) has donated the sum of N5 Million to Isoko Market Women Association to boost their various businesses.

The DESOPADEC boss urged them to effectively utilize the funds for their greater good and boost the local economy.

He had also made a presentation of 200 bags of Groundut seeds to Uzere women who are into groundnut farming to boost the economy of the state Agriculture, shortly after empowering Miss Blessing Oghenetejiri Thompson with the sum of N1.1 million naira for her Hair Dressing business as well as Mr. Arutase Ukeko with the sum of N1.5 million to start up his Bakery business.

Bashorun Askia’s display of uncommon benevolence to better the lives of his people and members of host communities in Delta state have been widely lauded by Deltans who claim that it has been the trend since he was the council chairman of Isoko South Local Government Area. “This act of kindness by the MD/CEO DESOPADEC is now a yearly pattern to his people,” they said.

While making the presentations at his country home Uzere, on Saturday, January 11, 2020, Bashorun Askia said the gesture is in line with the building of the Stronger Delta vision of the state Governor Senator Dr. Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa.

According to him, “Agriculture is one of the tool to boost the economy of the state because it will reduce the over dependence on the income from oil production. That is why the Okowa Administration is investing seriously in Agriculture and also empowering the people.”

“Most of the groundnuts we consume are from the northern part of the country and to reduce the importation of food products into the state, we have to encourage farmers by providing an enabling environment for them so that farming can be more easier. With this, we can have sufficient food produce for both consumption and export, just as we now have Delta Garri inn stores in United Kingdom and very soon the Uzere cassava Processing Factory will commence exportation of starch in commercial quantity out of the shores of Nigeria.”

Bashorun Askia therefore charged the various beneficiaries, especially the womenfolk to put in their best in this new planting season so that the harvest can be enough for consumption and for commercial purposes.

He also used the occasion to commend the state Governor Senator Dr. Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa for his support to farmers across the state .
