Fire Ravages Part Of Delta Govt. House, Asaba

Blank News Online has learnt that there was a fire outbreak in the Press Centre building, Government House, Asaba. The inferno, according to sources started at about 10pm on Sunday March 25, 2012.

Security officials on duty promptly alerted other personnel who called the State Fire Service. The Fire Service came and brought the fire under control preventing it from razing the entire building.

The office of the Chief Press Secretary and the adjoining office occupied by the supporting staff were mainly affected by the fire.

The deputy governor, Prof Amos Utuama SAN; the Chief of Staff, Dr Festus Okubor; the Permanent Secretary, Government House and Protocol, Mr. Tony Obuh; and the Commissioner of Police in charge of the State, Mr. Ikechukwu Aduba were on ground in the night to ensure that the fire was brought under control.

According to a statement issued by Mr. Sunny Ogefere, Chief Press secretary (CPS) to Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan, investigations are on to ascertain the cause of the fire incident and the extent of damage, although a Government House revealed that many vital documents have been burnt in the inferno.
