IDU Pays Consultation Visit To Ijaw Ethnic Nationality Over Delta South Senatorial Seat

The apex body and social cultural organisation of Isoko ethnic nationality, Isoko Development Union (I.D.U) led by its president general, Prof. Chris Akpotu and the executives of the union at the weekend, paid consultation visit to the Ijaw ethnic nationality over Delta South senatorial seat at Warri, Delta State.

Speaking during the consultation visit, Prof. Chris Akpotu stated that Isoko nation has decided to occupy the office of the Delta South Senatorial District in the 2023 elections, noting that the position is through consultative collective efforts.

He emphasized that for the past 20 years, Isoko has supported Ijaw nation to occupy the senatorial seat, adding that the turn for Isoko nation to occupy the position is now. Akpotu appealed to Ijaw people to give Isoko total support towards the actualization of the senatorial quest in the forth coming 2023 elections.

The president general assured Ijaw nation of equal reciprocation when the request for a political position is made, noting that Isoko has an illustrious son, a man of integrity, experience and robust features across board with international repute in accounting firm.

He said, the man Isoko nation selected for the position is Sir Ayodele Oghogho Othihiwa, adding that the position is ‘Isoko Project’ which according to him has been finalised and appealed to Ijaw nation to support the ‘Isoko Project’ to ensure success during the 2023 elections.

While corroborating the president general, High Chief Eta Enahoro, M.D and Chief Executive Officer, Skyward Limited, emphasized that Isoko nation is ready to occupy the senatorial office, noting that Isoko people have always supported Ijaw over the years.

He maintained that, it’s reciprocal for the Ijaw people to ensure that Isoko occupy the office, adding that Isoko people has selected a representative that is talented, internationally connected, not boastful leader but a messenger and appealed for total support to enable Isoko nation cling the Delta South Senatorial seat.

Responding, the national president of the Ijaw ethnic nationality, Prof. Benjamin Ogele Okoba, assured Isoko nation of massive support and commended Isoko people for the support given to them over the years.

Okoba stated that “because Isoko people supported Ijaw nation when we needed you most, be rest assured that we shall do the same”. He maintained that the robust and cordial relationship between Isoko and Ijaw nation in various political dispensation will continue in trust between the two ethnic nationalities.

He promised that Ijaw people will give Isoko nation full support and urged leaders of Isoko Development Union to present the aspirant for the position of Delta South Senatorial office to the Ijaw Nation and commended Prof. Chris Akpotu and executive members of Isoko Development Union for the consultation visit.
