Military Urged To Sustain Operations Against Illegal Bunkering In Delta

Operation of the soldiers in 19 Battalion, Koko, Delta State of Nigeria against illegal oil bunkering has began to yield tremendous result says the military.

In particular, incessant oil bunkery activities within Benin river along Abide community, an area our source described as “a major crossing point of bunkerers has been nipped and checkmated.

A soldier who pleaded anonymity told newsmen who were at the area to access and investigate report of the activities of indiscriminate oil theft said, “with the 19 Battalion troop from Koko dominating the general area, serious destruction of boats and vehicles hitherto used in conveying illegal products are being carried out.

A community leader in Aside at the Benin river who simply gave his name as Opus Meshack corroborated the claims of the soldiers, affirming that the soldiers actions has yielded immeasurable result.

“We the people of Aside community truly appreciate the efforts of the soldiers in checkmating bunkering activities in the riverine. Our water is now safe and clean and as you can see, bunkering camps within the area are being burnt BT the soldiers”.

The people of the locality therefore commended the soldiers and urged them to sustain efforts.

Meanwhile, the soldiers have revealed and asserted that they decided to storm the area in order to reduce the rate and effects of oil theft which has greatly affected the economy assuring that the operation which has stopped the movement of bunkerers both in the land and water would be sustained.
