The Nigeria Police in Benin City, Edo State capital, has disclosed the names of homosexual suspects who have been on the police radar as Kenneth Aghemenlo Imhanze 35, Habib Lere Lawal 25, Monday Osaremwen Osunbor 32, Femi Amos 40, Okifo Tega Umukoro 29 and Wisdom Johnson Akpevwe 24.
These men are currently being hunted by the police. Dozens of homosexuals have fled the country in recent times due to incessant harressment, arrests and violation of their human rights.
Our source learnt that the police are working alongside the vigilante to “fish out” the suspects and that the police are also on the hunt for many other suspects not named.
Blank NEWS Online correspondent authoritatively gathered information from a reliable source in Mission Road, Benin City, near the home of Imhanze Aghenmenlo Kenneth that the said Aghemenlo was caught on the act with another man on Friday 24th August, 2007 in the house in the middle of the night.
They were said to have been apprehended by the vigilante and seriously beaten but in the process Aghemenlo escaped before the arrival of the police. However his partner was handed over to the police.
Our correspondent further gathered from New Benin Police station that Aghemenlo’s partner named Osazuwa Samuel Ehinomwen is a son of the prominent politian, Chief Gabriel Osazuwa.
He is also said to have named several other persons involved in the alleged “unholy” act, just as the police have placed a ransom on them after declaring them wanted.
“Homosexuality is a taboo, our customs and traditions forbid it. It is viewed as inhuman and alien to our conservative nation,” an anonymous government source was quoted.
