TIRIKI MIENS FOUNDATION Wants Govt To Up Rural Sports *Lifts Okoloba Youths through football Tourney

The three tiers of government have been encouraged to deliberately come up with policies that would address grassroots sports development and growth in the rural areas.

Speaking to Journalists during the second edition of a Football Tournament in Okoloba Community, Bomadi Local Government, Delta State, which was sponsored by Mr Tiriki Miens Foundation, the founder of the Foundation, Mr Tiriki Miens said government should do more to encourage grassroots sports.

“In order to make Youth productive for themselves and the society,  I established TIRIKI MIENS FOUNDATION to empower youth in Okoloba Community through football Tournament, and also to immortalized my father, Late Darius Tiriki who was a great sports man while alive”.

Mr Tiriki said the aim of the Foundation was to enable Youth in the Community to showcase their potentials in the area of sports. According to him sport is a veritable tool through which unity and peace could be achieved.

He noted that beside the Economic importance of sports, it does a lot of good work that make one live healthy life. 

Mr Tiriki Miens advised Youth to embrace peace, love, neighborliness, and also consider themselves as leaders of tomorrow. He asked them to channel their energy and God endowed talents on meaningful ventures. 

He appealed to the three tiers of government to deliberately encourage grassroots sports especially football, saying that grassroots sports properly managed and maintained could yield profit for both governments and reduce social vices .

At the end of the opening match between Aseware and Kenebaiware , Gabriel Jimmy of Aseware scored 40 and 60 minutes goals to win the match. At the of recorded time of 90 minutes, one yellow and red cards were recorded.
