2023 Election: Electorate Commend INEC Peaceful Conduct of Election in Isoko South, North L.G.A

The Governorship and State Assembly election in Isoko South and North local government areas of Delta State, was generally peaceful and the electorates have commended INEC for improved performance of BVAS and early arrival of election materials.

Situation reports while monitoring the elections in some Wards and Units visited in Isoko South and North local government area revealed that, the electorates turned out massively to exercise their franchise, with entusiasm that their votes will count.

Speaking to Journalists at Oyede Ward 12 unit 9, the governorship candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party, Dr. Goodnews Agbi who voted at 10.15am, alleged of vote buying by some candidates, but commended INEC for the peaceful exercise.

He stated that, “election is not a do or die affair, there is bound to be a winner or a looser” and urged the electorates to protect their votes and wait for the results, noting that Delta State is moving from corruption to the state of sanity.

At Emede Ward 05 unit 3, the Senator Elect of the Delta South Senatorial District under the platform of All Progress Congress, Hon. Joel Onowakpor Thomas and the wife, commended INEC for the BVAS and early arrival of materials, adding that the people of Isoko Nation, Delta State and Nigeria are happy about the change of government.

He urged the people of Isoko, Ijaw, Urhobo and Itshekiri to give thanks to God for the rapid development that will come to the areas, and promised to give the people effective representation.

The chairman of Isoko North local government area, Hon. Christian Iteire who voted at Oyede Ward 12 unit 5, commended the massive turnout of electorates, even as he hailed INEC improved performance in the governorship and state assembly election.

At Irri Ward 11 unit 7, the president general of Idheze community, Mr. Goddy Egene, commended the conduct of INEC officials and the electorates, just as sorting and counting of votes was in progress at 1.50pm awaiting results.

However, at Ozoro Ward 10 unit 23, the candidates of All Progressive Congress, Dr. Michael Enahoro and the People’s Democratic Party, Hon. Bernard Odio, contesting for Delta State House of Assembly seat, voted in the same Ward and unit.

They commended the people for their peaceful conduct and massive turnout, even as they believed the people had spoken and their votes will count.
