Delta State government has assured the people of Aniocha North Local Government Area of the speedy completion of the on-going Isele-Uku – Oniocha-Uku – Okunzu-Obomkpa road.
The Commissioner for Works, Rt. Hon Funkekeme Solomon, stated this yesterday during an inspection of the 33 kilometres road project.
Hon Funkekeme reiterated that the present administration was desirous to complete all on-going civil engineering projects and ensure high quality projects that would meet set standards and specifications. He directed the contractor handling the project; Woksons Nigeria Limited, to adhere to the drainage design and excavate the side earth before backfilling so as to avoid siltation of the drains. He charged the contractor to quicken the pace of work on the project so that it can be completed before the end of the year.
While restating the State Government’s resolve to execute projects that would improve the socio-economic lives of the people of the state, Rt. Hon. Funkekeme stressed the importance of the project to the economic development of the area and promised that the remaining sections of the road would be completed soon.
He warned contractors handling civil engineering projects to return back to site and make use of the approaching dry season to complete all on-going projects, adding that government was interested in quick delivery of projects according to specification and set standards.
He restated the ministry’s resolve to inspect and monitor projects across the state to improve the infrastructural development of the state and disclosed that the ministry would pay unscheduled visits to project sites.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the State Local Government Service Commission, Chief Mrs. Patience Okwuofu thanked the state government for sitting the project. She commended the Commissioner for his zeal and commitment to duty.
While noting the benefits the project would bring to the community, she appealed to the state government to ensure that the contractor keeps to his promise to complete the project before the end of the year.
