The Delta State Commissioner for Works (Highways and Urban Roads), Comrade Reuben, on Saturday, February 21, 2026, participated in the All Progressives Congress (APC) Local Government Congress held at the Ughelli South Council Secretariat, Otu-Jeremi, where new party executives were elected in a peaceful and well-coordinated exercise.

The congress, which attracted a large turnout of party leaders, stakeholders and faithful from across the eleven wards of the local government area, was widely applauded for its orderly conduct, unity of purpose and spirit of consensus.

The atmosphere reflected the growing cohesion within the party structure in Ughelli South, as members demonstrated maturity and commitment to strengthening the APC ahead of future political engagements.

A significant highlight of the event was the formal dissolution of the outgoing local government executive.

The motion for dissolution was moved by Hon. Comrade Izeze Rume Reuben and seconded by the Secretary to the Local Government Council, Chief Ewenede John Akaruayen.

The motion received overwhelming support and was unanimously ratified through a resounding voice vote by delegates and party faithful present at the congress.

Following the successful election and inauguration of the new executive, Hon. Izeze congratulated the incoming leadership, describing their emergence as a renewed mandate to reposition the party for greater success.

He charged the executives to work assiduously, foster inclusivity, and build on the existing unity within the party in order to secure decisive victories in forthcoming elections.

He emphasized that discipline, teamwork and loyalty to party ideals would remain critical to achieving sustainable progress.

In his acceptance speech, the newly elected Chairman of the Ughelli South APC, Mr. Edirin Ojays Ojigho, expressed profound appreciation to party leaders and delegates for the confidence reposed in him and his team. He solicited the continued support, guidance and cooperation of stakeholders, stressing that the new executive would require

 

collective backing to effectively deliver on its mandate and deepen grassroots mobilization across the local government.
