Kidnap Of Catholic Priests: Delta Police Confirm Abductors Have Started Calling

The Delta State Police Command has confirmed that the abductors of four Catholic priests who were kidnapped on Tuesday, November 6, 2018  by unknown gunmen around Umutu/Abraka in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State have started making contacts.

As at press time, it was not clear who had been contacted.

According to CP Mustafa, “The kidnappers have started calling but you know we don’t encourage paying ransom. But definitely, we will ensure their release.”

The priests were reportedly kidnapped on Tuesday by men of the underworld who whisked them to an unknown location. They were said to be driving on a convoy from Warri in Delta statt to Ekpoma in neighboring Edo state, when the incident happened.

The state commissioner of Police, Mr. Muhammad Mustafa, who had earlier confirmed the abduction on Wednesday, assured that the police dragnet already spread out would ensure that the kidnapped priests are rescued.

The Police had allegedly arrested one person within the area of the incident even though
as it said the identity of those behind the abduction were unknown.

Among the kidnapped Catholic priests, is Very. Rev.Fr. Emmanuel Obadjere in charge of St. Williams Catholic Church, Orerokpe, Okpe Local Government Area in Delta State.

Meanwhile, the vehicles conveying the priests had been rescued by the team of anti-kidnapping policemen drafted from Delta and Edo states respectively.
