Bashorun Askia Foundation Free Medical Fair Kicks Off In Delta ***As Gov. Okowa Hails Humanitarian Gesture

Executive Director of Finance and Administration at the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), High Chief Bashorun Askia Ogieh JP, has flagged off a three day free medical fair for all sons and daughters of Isoko nationality in Uzere, Isoko South local government area of Delta state.

The free medical outreach which is sponsored by the Bashorun Askia Foundation (BAF) is scheduled for Wednesday 5th, Thursday 6th and Saturday 8th December 2018 respectively at the Uzere Town Hall with a combined team of medical experts giving attention to people with different medical challenges.

Hundreds of people with various health challenges, including the aged men, women and children had thronged the Uzere Town Hall venue of the free medical fair for the medical exercise which commenced on Wednesday, December 5, 2018.

The programme covers almost all areas of the medical challenges, including free consultation, free drugs distribution, free eye screening, free laboratory tests, free minor surgical procedures, free dental examination, health talk, general counseling and referrals, among others.

High Chief Bashorun Askia Ogieh JP, who is the sponsor of the free health programme, expressed satisfaction with the large turn out of rural dwellers seeking urgent medical help, adding that the free medical fair annually attends to the medical needs of the less privileged in the society, with a determination to eliminate myriad of health challenges.

Bashorun Askia, who said the gesture was also to complement the landmark achievement of the Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s administration in boosting health care delivery in Delta state, called on the people to come out enmasse to be part of the beneficiaries, assuring that everybody will be attended to by medical personnel within the three day period earmarked for the programme.

The Bashorun Askia Foundation free medical scheme was declared open by the Governor of Delta State, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, who was represented by the Senior Special Political Adviser, Chief Festus Ochonogor.
