Drunken Security Man Burns INEC Office *PVCs, Ballot Boxes, Voters Register, Generators Burnt

One of the offices of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been gutted by fire.

The incident occurred on Saturday night while the office was completely burnt down with all its content comprising ballot boxes, generators filled with fuel, cubicles, newly printed electronic and manual Voters Register were destroyed, among others.

The fire also destroyed Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) yet to be collected by residents and other materials yet to be identified.

INEC Voter Education and Publicity Officer in Plateau State, Osaretim Imaehorobo, who confirmed on Sunday that burnt INEC office is in Qua’an Pan Local Government Area, said “A drunken security man was said to have caused the fire outbreak,”

The incident has allegedly caused a setback in the preparation for the general elections in the area.
