The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has been called upon to brace up and help by engaging governments at levels on ways to improve on workers’ welfare in the country.

Making the call recently was Rev. Father Biachi at the funeral mass in honour of Late Ogbueshi (Comrade) Victor Ogbogu whp until his death was the Special Assistant to the Delta State Governor on SERVICOM and Labour Relations.

He said that Nigeria was seriously in a very bad state and urged all sakeholders to join hands in the fight for a better Nigeria.

Speaking further, he called on christians to always live a Christ like life , adding that all human beings were in a mission here on earth and as such should live a better life .

He said that Comrade Ogbogu was a very dedicated Catholic faithful who always stood for the truth and contributed a lot towards the growth of St. Brigid’s Catholic Church, Asaba.

He took the gospel reading from the book of John 11:24-26 quoting ” father I want those you have given to me to be with me where I am” , so that they may always see the glory you have given me because you loved me before the foundation of the world.

On his part, the former Special Adviser to the Governor on SERVICOM and Labour Relations, Comrade Mike Okeme said that he would miss Comrade Victor and gave a run down of how they (Comrade Victor Ogbogu and himself) had been struggling right from former Bendel state for the labour activities.

He said that Ogbueshi Ogbogu was a kind hearted gentle man who always stood for peace, stressing that his position in the Asagba of Asaba palace where he was one of the land committee members was an attestation that he was a community leader who was always in touch with his people.

Also speaking, the Director SERVICOM and Labour Relations, Mrs. Uche Onwusanya said that Ogbueshi Ogbogu was a peace loving man and prayed God to give the family the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable lose.

While answering questions from journalists, the first son of the deceased , Mr Michael Ikechukwu Ogbogu said that his late Dad was a kind man who had forgiving spirit, adding that he contributed in discovering the Ogbogu lineage and ancestral root .

He said that his death had created an irreplaceable vacuum in the family.

He prayed for God’s grace and strength to be able to carry on from where Comrade Ogbogu stopped.

The ceremony was attended by a large number of labour leaders from and outside the state.
