Wife of Delta State Governor and Vice Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dame Edith Okowa has formally flagged off the Maternal and Children Micro Nutrient Supplementation and Mass Deworming programme.
The event took place Thursday August 18th 2022, at the Primary Health Center, Cable Point in Oshimili south local government area of the state.
In her address, the wife of the governor who is the founder of O5′ Initiative, disclosed that the programme is in collaboration with the State Primary Health Care Development Agency.
She revealed that it is armed at improving the nutritional status of pregnant women and children in the state.
The programme is in collaboration with the O5 Initiative and the Delta State Primary Health Care Development Agency and aimed at improving the nutritional status of pregnant Women and Children in the State.
The governor’s wife hinted further that the event is to reinforce the commitment of the government to enhance the Health needs of Deltans.
“By the grace of God as the State Nutrition Ambassador, I have championed the cause for complete nutrition via the O5 Initiative Free Grassroots Medical Outreach across the state.
“The Outreach afforded me the opportunity to sensitize the public on the ideals for proper nutrition; this I can boldly say was well received.
“The fight against Nutritional deficiency among pregnant women and children cannot be overemphasized, therefore to meet this demand all hands must be on deck to achieve this goal.
“I wish to use this medium to call on well meaning individuals, organizations and donor agencies to be part of this move to eradicate malnutrition among our expectant mothers and children. This will help in tackling the challenges of safe delivery of our women and the growth of our Children.
“Let me at this juncture thank our donor Ugo’s Touch of Hope for their support and generosity. I also appreciate the Delta state Primary health Care Agency for all their contributions and making available the Primary Health structures across the State for the continuation of this program.
“I believe that after this program, there will no longer be malnourished Pregnant women and Children around us” the Nutrition Ambassador, said.
