First female Civil Engineer PS pulls out of service – Izeze others pour encomium.

Engr. Dr. Mrs. Juliet Aboloje on Monday, February 02,2026,bowed out from the Delta State Civil Service on attainment of the compulsory 60 years retirement age.

Engr. Dr. Mrs. Juliet Aboloje became the first female Civil Engineer to attain the exhalted position of a  Permanent Secretary on her appointment by His Excellentcy Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori in the year 2025.

She holds a masters and doctorate degrees in Engineering and rose up to the pinnacle of her career as a Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works, Highways and Urban Roads where she retired meritoriously.

In a send forth/pulling out ceremony organized by the Civil Engineering Family of the Ministry in her honour, the Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Works, Highways and Urban Roads, Comrade Reuben Izeze expressed his sentiments.

He described Engr. Aboloje as one of the best in her professional field of endeavor.

“She is one of the finest, physically and intellectually.

” I am not given to flattering, I said it because it is the way I feel about it. If she was not competent, I wouldn’t be here.” He said.

He thanked her for her many contributions to the field of engineering, the Delta State Civil Service and the Government of Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff Francis Orowhedor Oborevwori.

He noted that she is a major contributor to the various successes the Ministry has recorded.

Comrade Izeze described Engr. Aboloje as a team player and one who would protect the interest of her subordinates.

Earlier the celebrant Engr. Dr. Mrs. Juliet Aboloje while speaking on her legacy said that she was involved in the execution of many notable projects in the Ministry.

The projects according to her included the Effurun flyover, Asaba Airport, PTI flyover, DSC flyover, Asaba Ase bridge, dualization of Ughelli Asaba road sectors A, C1 and C2.

Others included, Asaba flood control, Asaba/Ibusa Benin Expressway flyover, Kwale Beneku bridge and approach roads among others.

She said that she is optimistic that her successor and other Directors in the Ministry have the capacity to continue with the good work done so far.

On her working relationship with the Honourable Commissioner, she said that it was very cordial noting that the respect was mutual.

She thanked His Excellentcy, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori for providing a conducive work environment for the Ministry to actualize its mandate.

The Chairman of the occasion, Engr. Gabriel Fuludu in his remarks described Engr. Dr. Mrs. Juliet Aboloje as a persevering, professional and excellent achiever who has served the State with distinction and an inspiration to the younger professionals particularly women engineers.

Others who spoke at the occasion were the Director Highways, Engr. Solomon Aghagba, Director Urban, Engr. Victor Oputa, Director Admin, Ministry of Works, Highways and Urban Roads, Mr. Ohajomo Ideh.

They praised her professionalism and leadership style.

The occasion featured a paper presentation tilted, retirement: a transition, not a termination by Engr. Sir Alexander Onichabor.

The paper which was presented by Engr. Emmanuel Oghorodje described retirement as a stepping back from formal paid job and not stepping out of life itself.

He gave the challenges in retirement and how to make the best use of ones retirement.

In conclusion he said that retirement is likened to changing ones mode of service.

The high point of the occasion was the pulling out ceremony of Engr. Dr. Mrs. Juliet Aboloje by Engineers in the Ministry.
