Ahead of the 2015 gubernatorial election, key political players in Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State, have called on Deltans to support Chief Godwill Obielum to emerge as Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan’s successor.
Blank NEWS Online reveals that the political gladiators from the area are confident that Chief Obielum will make positive changes in the governance of Delta State based on his experience in administration and security.
The politicians made their positions known at a meeting convened by the Delta Progressive Movement at the Kefas Park, Ibusa, Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State.
Chief Frank Oligbo specifically said, “Chief Obielum is a reliable man, a dependable Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) member, a man of the people, a bridge builder and since we want a true democrat to be our next Governor, we shoul all work for the emergence of Chief Obielum because, with him in Government House, we are sure that we have a capable hand as Governor.”
“Chief Obielum is accepted by all Deltans and we are confident that he will not betray our trust, he will improve on what he meets on ground, ensure speedy development of all parts of the state and also, improve on the security situation,” Chief Oligbo said, emphasizing, “this is not about politics, this is the time we should queue behind the person who will serve us and I can tell you that Chief Obielum is the person, a man who will consider the feelings of the poor man on the street, a true democrat.”
In her contributions during the meeting, Mrs Tina Odogwu emphasized that “Chief Godwill Obielum is our man, he plays politics without bitterness or exclusion and takes the masses into consideration and does not empower people because it is election period.”
She reiterated that there is no community in Delta State that has not felt the positive impact of Chief Godwill Obielum asserting, “we know him, he has helped women, he has helped our children, he has helped the youths, he has helped our men, not because of politics but because, he has a large heart and positively believes in the welfare of the people, we shall work for Chief Obielum to be our next Governor and we thank God that he is acceptable by all Deltans.”
Others who spoke at the meeting including Mrs Dorcas Umerah, she called on Deltans not to relent in their support for Chief Obielum stating that “he is the only candidate who is capable of carrying the people along without bias, Chief Obielum is an upright politician, a true member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and we are confident that he will run an open door policy to move our state to the next level.”
