In a shocking move, Ambrose Alli University Ekpoma has rusticated over one hundred and fourty students.

According to the university authorities, the students were rusticated for various offenses including, Exam misconduct, Malpractice and Impersonation.

The management had in a News bulletin released on Friday, February 16th 2024 stating the university management approval of the recommendations of the mobile Disciplinary committee’s report (Main Campus).

The press release reads " This is to inform you that the university management after due consideration of the reports submitted by mobile Disciplinary committee, has approved the penalties recommended for the offenses committed by the following students during the 2022/2023 semesters examination.

The rustication has sparked debate and controversy among students, parents/guardian and the general public. Some have criticized the university for being too harsh, while others have praised the decision as a necessary step to maintain academic standard.

The university management urges all Deans, HoDs and relevant organs to please take note.

“As the saying goes you can’t soar with the eagles if you’re surrounded by turkeys.” The rustication of these students is a reminder that we all need to strive for excellence, both individually and as a society.
