Delta State Executive Council has approved the appointment of HALCROW Infrastructure Consortium as the Transaction Adviser to the Government to midwife the concessioning of Asaba International Airport.

This was disclosed by the Senior Policy Adviser to the Governor, Prof. Sylvester Monye, who presided over the bidding exercise that took place recently in Asaba.

HALCROW Infrastructure Consortium is a multinational Infrastructure consultancy company established in 1868 in the United Kingdom. It operates in 90 offices worldwide and has staff strength of about 3,377.

This company has an excellent track record of similar previous experiences having advised on a number of iconic global projects such as Pearson International airport, Toronto, Abu Dhabi International Airport UAE, Sheikh Zayed Mosque Abu Dhabi, UAE, others are Clyde Arc Bridge Glasgow, UK, Channel Tunnel Rail link between the UK & Belgium, Severn Crossing Bridge United Kingdom, and Yas Island Development, Abu Dhabi, UAE.

Prof. Monye disclosed that the emergence of HALCROW was through a stringent process involving fourteen (14) consortia, adding that the idea to concession Asaba International Airport was in tandem with the SMART Agenda of the present administration to partner with private sectors to boost economic activities in the state due to the dwindling oil price.

He described the exercise as a transparent process which inspired healthy competition among bidders and further explained that the criteria for the evaluation of the bids were centered on technical and financial standing of the interested bidders.

It could be recalled that Delta state Government, under the aegis of Government Economic Management Team, advertised for interested companies to apply for the position of Transaction Adviser to oversee the concessioning of Asaba International Airport. Fourteen companies tendered their expression of interest while six consortia met the pass threshold of 75% performance.
