Chairman Onitsha South Honour By Catholic Church With Chieftaincy Title

In recognition of his outstanding performances and services to humanity, St. Dominic’s Catholic Church Fegge, Onitsha, Anambra State has conferred on the Transition Council Chairman of Onitsha South Local Government Area Honourable Emeka Orji with the chieftaincy title of Dike Di Ebube.

The event which coincided with the closing Mothering Sunday ceremony, began after Holy Eucharistic officiated by the Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Everistus Nwagbara.

During the Holy Mass homely, the Parish priest Fr. Nwagbara said that the Parish would equally appreciate Transition Council Chairman of Onitsha South Local Government (LG), Chief Orji for his developmental strides.

According to the Cleric, “Hon. Orji is not like other Government functionaries who do not pick calls. He responds to emergencies when he is called. I recall when the Chairman came to his Parish with Keke for emergency.

“According to him, the Chieftaincy title conferred on Hon. Orji was in recognition of his out standing performances and services to humanity, and
to reciprocate his wonderful achievements in Onitsha South Local Government precisely Fegge area.

“Several successive Caretaker Chairmen have served in Onitsha South LG but it is only Hon. Orji that has attracted huge transformation. He has done more than what he promised when he called stakeholders meeting and no place in Onitsha has more roads than Fegge.

“He understands that an average man needs access roads, water and clean environment. Infact, I will campaign for him in his elective position. Even if I have not eaten his money, I have matched it with my legs,” Fr Nwagbara stated.

The excited LGA Chairman, Hon. Orji said he was delighted for the honour and stated that the major impediment in Fegge is gutters, attributing it to location of Fegge.

He recalled how he assured Fegge Community during stakeholders meeting that he would make a positive change in Fegge and by God’s grace he has not disappointed them.

According to him, he started aggressive desilting of gutters before he embarked on road construction.

”There is no way you will construct roads without getting gutters right. It is my intervention that made Governor Charles Soludo to award all the roads in Onitsha South.

“So, Governor Soludo loves Onitsha South and I urge you people to compensate him by re-electing him for the second tenure”, he added.

In their separate speeches, the Anambra State Association of Town Union (ASATU), Comrade Duru Chiadikobi and Chairman of Landlords and Stakeholders Onitsha South LGA, Chief Okwudiri Obinwanne, reaffirmed that Chief Orji has transformed Onitsha South Local Government Area, tremendously.
