An APC Chieftain and formost aspirant in the upcoming LG primary election in Etsako-West, Edo State, Dr Abbas Ikheigbe Abubakar, has dismissed the rumour making the round on social media spaces that the esteemed former Governor, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, has called on all aspirants to step down for his alleged preferred choice.

In a telephone conversation with newsmen on Wednesday in his office at Abuja, the Chairmanship hopeful condemned the rumour as a calculated attempt to paint a highly respected Democrat like the distinguished Senator Oshiomhole as undemocratic.

“We all know the battles our father and leader fought against Godfatherism in Edo State for which he’s highly respected. He cannot be a party to such anti-democratic postures after all” he said.

Dr Abbas Abubakar added that contesting for an elective position to serve the people is not a do-or-die affair and therefore, does not call for such “name-dropping and the maligning of respected individuals who have done so much for our people” he added.

The political Economist, whose recent constituency declaration attracted accolades across the Local government with his popular Six-Point Agenda, is a well-known pioneer member of the APC in Edo North.
