DELTA AT 28: ASKIA GREETS DELTANS ***Reassures Of Better Days Ahead

WARRI – As Deltans, all over the world celebrate the 28th anniversary of the creation of Delta state today, August 27, 2019, tthe Managing Director/ Chief Executive Officer of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Bashorun Askia Ogieh FCNA, CrFA, has enjoined Deltans to be steadfast and committed to the spirit of one Delta as we celebrate.

The DESOPADEC MD/CEO in his goodwill message reassured Deltans of better days ahead under the leadership of His Excellency Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, saying the state has accomplished purposeful governance and delivery of democracy dividends to the electorate.

“I strongly believe in the Delta spirit and in the ideology of a Stronger Delta that is so visible with Okowa as Governor and the overwhelming support the People are giving him”, Askia stated.

The DESOPADEC MD/CEO said that Delta state, despite myriad of socio-economic and developmental hitches, has weathered the storm as a result of the leadership prowesses of those who held the mantle of governance of the state since its creation in 1991.

Speaking on the state of DESOPADEC, he assured that the present management, in readiness to driving the vision of His Excellency, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa through the legal instrumentality of the Commission, has initiated a well planned strategy, through consultations with key stakeholders, to fairly represent the interest of all oil producing communities in the state.

Bashorun Askia revealed that the road map for the new DESOPADEC Board is aimed at changing the erstwhile narratives and bringing about a rejuvenation of the fortunes of the people, through adequate provisions of basic amenities, people-oriented infrastructure projects and human capital development programmes among the youths.

He assured that his administration would continue to build on the gains recorded by his predecessors in order to achieve the Commission’s goals and objectives.

He emphasized that the enduring development activities of DESOPADEC in the mandate oil bearing communities in the state, coupled with the establishment of the Warri/Uvwie and Environs Development Agency, and the existing Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency by His Excellency, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, have further scaled up development across the state, especially in rural and riverside communities.

While urging Deltans to sustain and intensify their support for the state government’s policies, programmes and projects, he assured them that the successful re-election and inauguration of His Excellency, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, have re-energised the present administration’s resolve to vigorously deliver on its mandate to build a Stronger Delta.
