DELTA NUJ, NURTW CONGRATULATE GOVERNOR-ELECT, DR OKOWA

The Delta State Council of the NUJ has congratulated the State Governor-Elect, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur David Okowa, on his victory at the just concluded gubernatorial election.nuj1

The Council described the poll as a bold endorsement of all Deltans, saying his votes cut across the nooks and crannies of Delta State. The Council also congratulated the Labour party candidate, Chief Ovedje Great Ogboru on his gallantry in conceding defeat.

In a statement signed by the Chairman of the Council, Comrade Norbert Chiazor and the Secretary, Comrade Churchill Oyowe, the Union saluted the patience, tenacity and doggedness exhibited by Dr Okowa all through the electioneering period and thank God almighty for crowning his efforts with victory.

The Council expressed confidence in the prosperity for all Deltans campaign slogan of the Governor-elect, adding that it had no doubt that based on the Senator’s glorious track records he would succeed in bringing excellence and unprecedented development across Delta State.

The Union said as a body, the Council pledged to contribute objectively to facilitate the success of Dr Okowa administration, stressing that the Council looked forward to a robust relationship with the Dr Okowa when he assume office on 29th May.

The Council attributed the finger of God in the events that brought about the victory of Dr Okowa and our prayed for God’s continuous guidance, grace of insight like that of King Solomon and might to accomplish his laudable programmes tagged SMART.

In a similar vein, Chairman, Delta State Council of National Union of Road Transport Union (NURTW), Chief Ifeanyi Obi has commended Deltans for their peaceful dispositions before, during and after the general elections.nurtw

Chief Obi stated that against the prediction of doomsday soothsayers, the general elections were peaceful especially in Delta State.

He disclosed that the acceptance of Senator Ifeanyi Okowa by Deltans through their votes was a strong indications that democracy has advanced to a stage where the people could speak with one voice.

According to him, “many people said the elections would be violent but, today, God has given us a peaceful man to be our Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, the elections were peaceful.”

“We congratulate Deltans for their courage, we in national union, congratulate our elected Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, we thank our Governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan, the man tried because, if not for his efforts, there would have been problems,” he said, adding that Deltans made the right choice by electing Senator Okowa as Governor.

He said, “as an individual, I know Senator Okowa as someone who will always work in the people’s interest, he is experienced and he will transform the state.”

Chief Obi also, commended members of the NURTW for their decorum throughout the electioneering period noting that no negative incident involving members of the drivers union was recorded especially, in Delta State.
