The Executive Director (Finance and Administration) at the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), has commended Governor Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa for extending the tenure of the current DESOPADEC Board till 28th May, 2019.

According to him, “since the emergence of Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa as Governor of Delta state in 2015, the oil bearing communities have gained a lot in terms of fast-tracked infrastructural and human capital development projects being embarked upon by DESOPADEC, aside myriad of state government mega projects dotting the nooks and crannies of the state.”

It would be recalled that the Delta State House of Assembly, during plenary on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 granted the approval, following the expiration of an earlier extension of the board’s tenure which elapsed on February 29, 2019.

Bashorun Askia, a prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta state, who had congratulated Governor Okowa for his successful re-election and the victory of almost all PDP candidates in the last general elections, called for total support of the state government to sustain the transformational growth of all sectors of the state economy.

He observed that the results polled in the state for PDP during the 2019 Presidential/National Assembly and Governorship/State House of Assembly elections which were basically free, fair, credible and transparent was a reflection of the confidence reposed in Governor Okowa by all Deltans at home and in the Diaspora, adding that “it was obviously a testimony of the peoples faith in the governor.”

He further said the overwhelming endorsement and eventual re-election of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa by Deltans across political divides, lends credence to the reality that the equitable rotation of the governance of Delta State among the three (Central, South and North) senatorial districts have been established.

Bashorun Askia, particularly thanked the entire Isoko Nation for hearkening to his frequent appeals for the re-election of Governor Okowa and election of all PDP candidates, which according him has resulted in the landslide victory witnessed during the general elections.

He therefore appealed to Deltans to ensure that all hands are on deck to support the Smart Governor, His Excellency, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, to achieve a full blown ‘Greater Delta’ through the SMART agenda.
