Ebola Virus: Ogeah Charges PROs On Sensitisation

Delta State Commissioner for Information, Chike Ogeah Esq., has enjoined Public Relations Officers in Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to be involved in the advocacy of the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) in the state.

Ogeah, who gave the charge in Asaba while meeting with the Public Relations Officers of the MDAs in the state, urged them to disseminate adequate and accurate information about the killer virus.

The Commissioner stated that the PROs must have knowledge and information about the Ebola Virus Disease to enable them inform members of the public through flyers and handbills.

He said the state government has taken proactive measures to tackle any reported outbreak headlong since no vaccine nor cure has been identified for the disease.

In her speech, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Health Monitoring, Dr. Rukevwe Ugwumba said the State Government is putting everything in place to ensure that there is no outbreak of the disease in the state, even as she advised people to maintain simple personal hygiene of hand washing and to wash fruits before eating them.

She revealed that no case of the disease has been reported in Delta state.
