Ekiti Deputy Governor, Olufunmilayo Olayinka Dies Of Cancer ***As President Jonathan Commiserates With Family

The deputy Governor of Ekiti state, Mrs Olufunmilayo Adunni Olayinka is dead after a prolonged battle with cancer.

Family sources confirmed that she died of cancer in Lagos.

She became deputy governor since 16th October 2010 and notable for championing women’s rights.

She was aged 52 and is survived by her husband and three children.

A statement made available to Blank NEWS Online and signed by Reuben Abati, spokesman to President Goodluck Jonathan reads: “President Jonathan describes the late Deputy Governor as a dedicated, public spirited technocrat who used her talent to make the difference.”

The president prayed that Almighty God grants her husband, family and the state the fortitude to bear the loss.
