THE sociocultural organization of Isoko ethnic nationality, Isoko Development Union (I.D.U.) at the weekend, paid commiseration visit to the family of the clan Otota of Olomoro Kingdom, High Chief Stephen O. Akpotu, who passed on recently at Olomoro, Isoko South local government area of Delta State.

While describing the death of High Chief S. O. Akpotu as glorious home call, the patron of Isoko Development Union, High Chief Iduh Amadhe extolled the life and times of the one time President General of Isoko Development Union.

Amadhe urged the children and family members to emulate High Chief Akpotu’s generosity and philanthropic nature, noting that until his death, he was the Grand Patron of Isoko Development Union.

He described High Chief Akpotu as a great historian and an encyclopedia of Isoko proverbs, adding that he was fondly called ‘Akpadede’ as a title in Isoko language.

Amadhe noted that, the burial ceremony of High Chief Akpotu will be for the entire Isoko Nation, and assured the children and family members of support from friends and various organizations.

For his part, the President General of Isoko Development Union, Dr. Christopher Akpotu, while describing the passing on of High Chief Stephen Akpotu as one time President General of Isoko Development Union, noted that his emergence as another ‘Akpotu’ has major significant in the history of Isoko Nation.

He added that the 1st Vice President General of Isoko Development Union, Prince Desmond Ogbaudu from Olomoro kingdom, also heralds good expectations and eventual development of the ethnic nationality, just as High Chief Eta Enahoro and Dr. Christopher Akpotu signed the condolence register on behalf of Isoko Nation.

Responding, Chief Sunny Akpotu, secretary OML 30 Community Development Board, commended high Eta Enahoro, high chief Iduh Amadhe, the president and executive members of I.D.U for the visit, noting that the commiseration visit was show of love from Isoko Nation.

In attendance was high chief Eta Enahoro, the Iyasere of Oyede kingdom, executive members of Isoko Development Union, executive members of Olomoro Community Development Union and Chief John Araka, former editor Daily Times newspaper.

Others are the chairmanship aspirant for Isoko South local government area under the All Progressive Congress, Mrs. Hoplyn Ayu, children and family members of late High Chief Stephen O. Akpotu.
