The peoples General, Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru has lauded the victory of the new governor-elect of Ekiti state, Ayodele Fayose as well as the incumbent, Dr. Kayode Fayemi for playing the game of politics according to desirable rules.

Ogboru, in a statement signed by him and made available to Blank NEWS Online on Sunday, June 22, 2014 said:

“Yesterday’s governorship election in Ekiti State has been widely acclaimed as free and fair. This is a huge positive development for our democracy.

“We must first salute the courage of President Goodluck Jonathan for providing the transparent leadership necessary for a credible election. Professor Attahiru Jega and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) deserve commendation for meeting global benchmarks in this election. This is what Nigerians have always expected from INEC. Sham elections demean us as a people and create avoidable instabilities with unimaginable consequences.

“An election reflecting the will of the people of Ekiti State is a victory for all. His Excellency Governor Dr. Kayode Fayemi has etched his name in the sands of time as a civilised democrat by accepting the people’s verdict. Nigeria surely needs such a great man in our continuing quest for greatness.

“Finally, may I on behalf of our people, congratulate His Excellency Dr. Ayodele Fayose and the good people of Ekiti State for this victory. This victory tells of an unbroken bond with the Ekiti grassroots. May God grant the Governor-Elect the wisdom and grace to make a difference in Ekiti State.”

Signed:
Olorogun Great Ovedje Ogboru
