-Blank NEWS Online (NIGERIA) -From Mike SOGBOLO/ North-East Bureau:
The sacked Borno State Commissioner of Health, Dr. Salisu Kwaya-Bura said he was not relieved of his appointment on political reasons.
He said that he will remain eternally grateful to the state governor, Professor Babagana Zulum for the time he gave him to serve the state as a commissioner.
He said he would be eternally grateful to the governor who picked him among thousands other qualified medical practitioners who were equally interested in the job.
Kwaya-Bura who spoke with journalists
shortly after a press statement announcing the termination of his appointment was released on Tuesday morning, said “contrary to speculations and rumour making the round that my appointment was terminated owing to political reasons, this is not true because out of thousands of people who are seeking for the appointment to head the ministry of health in Borno state, the governor at that time found me worthy to work with him.”
He said: ” I never knew that I will be appointed Commissioner but it happened and from that day I knew that one day I will leave this position like many others who had served and are no longer occupying just like me today. This is life and is about a scene, someone will come and play his part and leave. I believe this is what happened and the governor of Borno state in his own wisdom took such decision today.
He however said the decision did not come to him as a surprise because he did not appoint himself in the first place and he believes that someone else has the right to be appointed by the governor as he pleases.
He said, if there are any reasons alien to normal administrative changes, the government would have made it known since the press release informing of the relieve of his appointment comes from the government.
“I do not believe that this is political or anything to do with my role in the COVID-19 team as being speculated because I am a professional medical personnel and I will continue to play vital role in the administration of good health in Borno state.
“When things happened like this, there are a lot of rumour making the round but I am still with the government and remain professional in my chosen field like I said. I will continue to help the state and give advice where necessary and whenever I am invited to do so. I believe I have a higher calling that informed this shift. After all we have faith that it is Allah who appoints one and at the time he so wishes.”
