As Anambra State prepares for the November 8 governorship election, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Barrister Sylvester Ezeokenwa, has described the forthcoming poll as a defining and strategic moment for the people of the State.

Speaking with newsmen at All Hallows Seminary, Onitsha, during the Feast of All Saints celebration, Ezeokenwa said the election would determine whether Ndi Anambra choose to sustain the developmental strides recorded under Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration.

He noted that Governor Soludo’s government had brought unprecedented infrastructural and human capital development to Anambra State without borrowing funds.

“Are we making a choice to sustain a government that has achieved so much without borrowing a kobo?” Ezeokenwa asked. “Are we going to sustain a government that, instead of retrenching workers, employed about ten thousand teachers within its first year in office? Are we going to continue with these massive human capital gains in Anambra State?”

According to him, the coming election represents a clear choice between progress and regression.

“It is a decision between sustaining these legacies and returning to stagnation. The people must decide if they want to continue with the giant strides being witnessed in the state,” he added.

Ezeokenwa expressed confidence that Governor Soludo would win re-election, citing the overwhelming support the governor has received from the people.

“Anambrarians know the choice they have made. I have never seen this kind of campaign in Nigeria before. Instead of waiting for the candidate to fund campaigns, the people themselves contributed money and organized rallies for him. It is truly unprecedented,” he said.

The APGA Chairman urged voters to remain focused on continuity and to resist any attempt to “take Anambra back to Egypt,” emphasizing that another term for Soludo would consolidate the achievements already made.

On the significance of All Saints’ Day, Ezeokenwa reflected on its meaning within the Catholic faith, explaining that it celebrates those who lived holy lives and are believed to be in the presence of God.

He also advised seminarians to remain steadfast in their calling, urging them to study hard, focus on Christ, and live exemplary lives modeled after Him.
