Evander Holyfield, former undisputed world boxing champion has encouraged youths in Delta state to take to boxing.

Also Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan assured that the State’s athletes would make the country proud in the forthcoming London Olympic Games as former undisputed world boxing champion, Evander Holyfield visits to encourage youths to take to boxing.

This assurance was given by Uduaghan when Holyfield paid him a courtesy visit at Government House Annex, Warri. He said that Nigeria was depending on the State to win medals for the country, stressing that apart from being number one state in sports in the federation, it also has a good boxing history.

The governor had charged the former heavy weight boxing champion to use his wealth of experience to develop boxing as a profession which would engage able-bodied youths in the country.

Responding, Evander Holyfield explained that he was in the state to encourage youths to take to boxing as part of his visit to the Niger/Delta region.

The champion who acknowledged Delta State’s commitment to sports said his greatest moment as a boxer was when he represented his country (the United States) in the Olympic Games.

Holyfield was accompanied on the visit by the Mayor of the state of North Carolina, Mr. Alfred Dickson who called on youths to embrace God in all their dealings as it was the only recipe for success.
