-By Albert OGRAKA:

The Odion of Emevor Kingdom, HRH CHIEF (DR.) JOHN HOLT OLOGHO has disclosed that efforts and mechanism are being made to install a Gas Turbine in Emevor Kingdom.

This projection, according to him, has been tabled and deliberated on, since the project needs help from well-meaning government functionaries and influential sons and daughters of the kingdom, including corporate bodies.

The regent king made the disclosure during the Emevor Day celebration on Saturday, August 26, 2023.

He described the Emevor Day celebration as a unique programme of events carefully crafted to achieve a myriad of things.

He noted that “Some of the endearing benefits of the Emevor Day celebration is to articulate our modest achievements under my reign as The Regent Odion of Emevor Kingdom, adding that “The events of this Day is also targeted to award honours and titles to distinguished sons and daughters of the Kingdom and to intimate the people and government of developmental strides in the Kingdom, among other special events.”

He elucidated on his achievements so far, to include The Tree Planting program, Emevor Carnival, NOUN Development and The Constitution of Emevor Youth Council.

Other achievements are the Roburst Interface with Government & its Agencies, Appointment of Honorary chiefs, Appointment of Honorary chiefs, Improvement in Electricity, Emevor-Orogun Road as well as Peace & Stability.

He however, emphasized that the EMEVOR Carnival, is an annual event, usually organized and showcased during the Yuletide, to bring the people together to witness entertainment and unique culture of Emevor people, adding that he period is a time of celebration and home coming, as it affords families in and around the Kingdom to partake in a dance and song regatta to enjoy the home environment and yuletide with fanfare.

On the Constitution of Emevor Youth Council, the Odion explained that prior to to his ascension to the throne, the youth wing of the Emevor Progress Union, EPU, was disbanded and put under suspension for years, but he decided to reconstitute the Youth Council because of their vital and functional role in the development of the Kingdom.

He therefore, instructed the reconstituted youth Council to strictly observe the guidelines set aside, for effective and orderly governance and support in the Kingdom’s administration.

Speaking on the state of infrastructure, he expressed concern on the improvement in Electricity, lauding the efforts ofwell-meaning sons and daughters of the kingdom who have tried to improve the near hopeless power situation in the Kingdom and save it from total darkness.

“Today the story has far improved and more efforts are on to effect continuous improvement,” he said.

More so, the Regent Odion lamented the state of the ongoing Emevor-Orogun road, abandoned road by NDDC contractor, which according to him, has been an albatross of sorts.

He regretted that “Since the inception of democracy in 1999, Emevor has never had it this bad, noting that efforts by Emevor leaders and sons and daughters have led to engagement with Delta State Government to refocus attention on the abandoned road by NDDC contractors.

Delightfully, he said, “Thank God the Government has started work on the road and we expect very soon that the PDP government will accomplish this task as promised.”
