As part of its continued efforts to combat oil theft and bolster revenue protection, the Senate Ad-hoc Committee on Oil Theft paid a courtesy visit to the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas (Rtd), at the Government House in Port Harcourt.

The delegation, led by Senator Ned Nwoko, aims to support the Federal Government’s post-subsidy economic reforms by engaging with oil-producing states and key oil terminal operators.

“Our visit aligns with the Senate’s resolution to interface with stakeholders across the oil sector.

The insights gathered are critical for shaping effective oversight and policy interventions,” Nwoko said.

During the visit, the committee also held a closed-door meeting with Major General Emmanuel Ejim-Emekah, General Officer Commanding 6 Division, Nigerian Army, Port Harcourt.

Discussions centered on strategic security cooperation and the realities of oil-related operations in the region.

“Security, access, and logistics are fundamental to conducting meaningful oversight in the Niger Delta,” Nwoko added.

The engagements underscore the Senate’s commitment to addressing oil theft, which continues to undermine national revenue and economic stability.
