The celebration underscored the CMO’s commitment to strengthening family values and supporting fathers in their spiritual and civic responsibilities.
In an homily by Rt. Rev. Monsignor Ike Aduba, he challenged fathers to live examplary life that would be worthy of emulation.
” We encourage our fathers to strengthen their position as fathers in our family, church and society.
” A day like this is meant to inspire us to build our families. God has given you a privilege to be a father, you didn’t make yourself who you are.
” As a father what are living behind for your children, family, society and the world.” He asked.
He enjoined fathers to build a legacy through their faith, generosity and constant presence for your family.
According to Monsignor Aduba, the legacy of faith is key in the family.
” The legacy of faith is a solid foundation of any man’s legacy. Do you have a regular time set aside for prayers in the family? Do you have time to share your personal experiences with your family on how God has been influential in your life?” He further asked.
He summarized by enjoining fathers to lead by example noting that our children may forget our advise but not our examples.
The Chairman CMO St. Joseph Pro Cathedral Catholic Church, Asaba, Sir. Greg Okolo in his address at the reception thanked all fathers for their efforts in providing and protecting their family.
” To every father here, we celebrate you. We see your sacrifices, the early mornings, late nights, silent prayers and tireless labour to provide, protect and guide your families. In a world where the role of the father is often undervalued the church reminds us that you are icons of St. Joseph; humble, strong and faithful.”
He commended the Parish Priest, Rt. Rev. Ike Aduba for his constant support to CMO.
Also he appreciated the CWO and the children for their support.
Sir Okolo noted that fatherhood is not just biology but a Ministry saying that we are called to be priests in our homes, providing with integrity, protecting with courage and models of Christ-like love.
He enjoined fathers to recommit to prayers to lead by example and mentor the next generation of boys to become responsible men.
