A book written by Comrade Utoware G.O Udumubrai on the ‘History of Isoko Nation in the Niger Delta’ at the weekend, was unveiled and presented to the public at the National secretariat of Isoko Development Union Oleh, Isoko South local government area of Delta State.

Speaking to Journalists, Udumubrai stated that, “no man lives without history, just as history reminds you of yesterday, informs you of the present and gives future projection. He noted that history inundate ideas to correct the past and amend present errors.

Comrade Udumubrai opined that as an Isoko man, it’s important to provide adequate and relevant information about Isoko history which according to him guards Isoko people in decision making and references.

He maintained that “the records of what we were yesterday, what we are today and what we shall be tomorrow gives a clear report card that directs human actions to shape their current activities, adding that products of historical evaluation that were properly documented evidenced in giant strides makes for greater achievements”.

Udumubrai urged others to join in writing about Isoko language; the culture and vivid presentation of Isoko ethnicity which will enable the younger generation learn and sustain the anthropological and sociological perspective of the people. He said the book is available at Benstar store, before Eboh guest house Oleh, Isoko South local government area.

Earlier, while reviewing the book, Mr. Onogberiome O. Kingsley said, “Any nation, community or clan that desires to be on the path of sustainable development must understand their past and be conversant of the present so as to project into the future”.

He noted that the book ‘History of Isoko People in the Niger Delta’ is a 511 page book and has introductory section, part one and part two with twenty – five chapters, adding that the author systematically presented lines of fact about the existence of the Isoko people from obscurity, negative social thoughts civilization and western civilization.

He maintained that the book X – rays foundational historical origin of Isoko nation, their geographical location and sources of migration of the Isoko people, adding that early settlement, mythology of creation, types of primordial government and law making process, judicial system of the Isoko people has been documented in the book.

Onogberiome stated that the author examined indigenous education and technology, communication and names of Isoko language and cultural orientations. He noted that part two of the book has eighteen chapters, dedicated to the history of individual kingdoms, clans and communities in Isoko nation.
