UNFPA donates PHC to persons with disability

United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has donated a Primary Health Centre to persons with disability in Karon Magiji community, Abuja.

Commissioning the facility, Ms Ulla Mueller, Country Representative, UN Population Fund (UNFPA) said that the donation was in commemoration of International Day for People with Disability.

Mueller, who was represented by Ms Erika Goldson, said the UN is ever commitment to carry everyone along in accordance with Sustainable Development Goal of leaving no one behind.

She said: “We are working together with Nigerian government to ensure a disability inclusivity for sustainable Nigeria.”

The UNFPA Country Representative said that they would continue to provide support aimed at engendering quality healthcare for all especially the vulnerable.

Executive Secretary of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC). Chief Tony Ojukwu, commended UNFPA for making healthcare accessible to persons with disability.

Ojukwu, represented by Mr Anthony Yikarebogga, said that the facility would not only restore the confidence of persons with disability but give them access to quality healthcare.

Deputy Director, International Cooperation, FCTA, Mrs Celina Oluwafemi, expressed gratitude to UNFPA for providing the facility to the community.

Emir of Disability Colony, Karon Magiji, Alhaji Mohammed Katsina, expressed profound gratitude to the UNFPA for giving them sense of belonging in terms of accessible healthcare.

Katsina expressed hope that the facility is stepping stone in development of the neighbouring communities. (
