“We have Agreed to Pay Minimum Wage from November 2024” – Hon. Ogorugba

The Chairman of Isoko North local government area of Delta State Hon. Godwin Ogorugba says, payment of minimum wage to civil servants in the local government area, will commence from November 2024.

Ogorugba made the statement during an interactive session with members of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Isoko Chapel on a courtesy visit to the local government chairman.

The chairman noted that his administration is media friendly and will sustain the synergy towards effective coverage and determination of information of the local government area.

Ogorugba maintained that, he will partner with the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Isoko Chapel and provide quarter or monthly subvention to assist in the effective coverage of the local government programs implementation.

He enumerated some of his achievements to include, adopting community policing strategy in fight against criminality in the local government area and has restored peace in communities that had crisis in the area.

Others are the building and completion of 50 lockup stores at Ofagbe community through direct labour, distribution of books and sanders to students in the area and resurfaced Otor – Owhe and Iyede road.

Ogorugba added that, the administration has installed data software for staff free access to Internet services for communication in the council secretariat, just as drugs were provided to the health centers in the local government area.

The chairman noted that arrangements to provide soya milk for nursing mothers and women in the area will soon be concluded adding that the administration will provide motorcycles to the securitymen towards effective crime control in the local government area.

Earlier, the chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalists Isoko Chapel, Comr. Michael Ilaya said, the union was on a courtesy visit to seek areas of collaboration with the local government chairman on information gathering and publication.

Ilaya requested for a periodical press briefing, just as he disclosed that Isoko Chapel won the best Chapel award in the state, three years ago.
