Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan has said that Nigerians must collectively denounce terrorism and terrorists as it was antithetical to the people’s way of life or any known religion.

The Governor who stated this in a goodwill message to Muslims in commemoration of this year’s Eid El Fitri celebrations, urged that terrorism and terrorists must be combated by all in the interest of peace and unity of the country.

Besides, he said that it was essential that Nigerians must rally round President Goodluck Jonathan to check Nigerians that were betraying their nation and adopting terrorism as their ideology.

“We must all denounce terrorism and continue to pray for the Federal Government to successfully combat terror and terrorists who betray their nation and forget their humanity while adopting terrorism as ideology and course”’ he stated.

“We should all use this occasion to pray to God that those deviant minds should change their ways before they lose the true essence of their religion and way of life”, he added.

Governor Uduaghan enjoined Nigerians especially Muslims, to spread love to others and to cultivate hope and happiness in every corner of the country, stressing that the month of Ramadan was a period for the reaffirmation of faith, love, tolerance and mercy, to fellow Nigerians and humanity in general.

He noted that Eid El Fitri emphasizes the teaching of Islam and its tolerance and therefore called on all Muslim faithful to follow the good ideals they obtained during the holy month, especially the readiness to engage in good deeds.

Faith, he added will not be complete without believing in the Prophet and His messages stressing: “At the peak of its progress, the Islamic civilization was a unique and model example for coexistence and interaction with other religions and cultures”.

Dr. Uduaghan congratulated Muslim brothers and sisters in the country as they marked the end of Ramadan and wished the entire Muslim faithful, happy, peaceful and joyous Eid-El-Fitri celebrations.
