Tragedy struck at Nnewi on Thursday morning as eight (8) people were in the early hours of the day lost their lives in a fatal accident which happened along Oba-Okigwe Road.

An Eye witness told our correspondent that a soak away truck while trying to avoid a trailer parked along the road ran into a tricycles and a motorcycle conveying children to school.

The parked trailer according to our source is owned by a popular Nnewi importer.

Efforts by men and Officers of FRSC to rescue the victims did not yield any positive dividend as they died on the spot.

Irate mob immediately after the accident set the trailer which was fully loaded with beer ablaze as well as the soak away truck.

Another eye witness who identified herself as Ngozi told our correspondent that the most pathetic of all was the poor woman who was taking her children to school only for her and children to meet an untimely death.

She claimed that depot located at point of the road has caused a lot of accident in the area.

As at the time of filing this report, people were still seeing rushing to the scene of the accident to behold the morning disaster.
