Oleh Community recently re-elected Chief Believe Alakri as the President General of Oleh kingdom for three years term, during the annual delegates conference, held at Oleh Civic Center, Isoko South local government area of Delta State.

Chief Believe Alakri in a keenly contested election, pulled 164 votes to defeat Hon. Cheaver Ohoriemu and Evang. Erure with 6 and 2 votes respectively.

Other members of the executive elected are Mr. Agare William as Vice-President, Barr. Oriki Obaro as Secretary General, Mr. David Okunna, Treasurer and Umukoro Oghenekioja Great as Financial Secretary.

Others are Obede Akpofuno PRO, Igbosa Theophilus Assistant Secretary General, Mrs. Juliana Itewo Women Leader, Mrs. Victoria Azino, Assistant Women Leader, Mrs. Janet Urude Women Secretary and Mr. Gabriel Ubara as Representative of Eviewho.

Speaking with newsmen after the inuaguration, Chief Believe Alakri commended Oleh people for re-electing him and others, and promised to sustain peace and infrastructural development of Oleh kingdom, saying “we need absolute peace in Oleh Community so that we can build and add to what we have”.

“We need to maintain the standard than what we had done before. And what we haven’t done, we pray God should give us the strength to surmount all the obstacles, abnormally and uncertainty”.

Chief Alakri said, “I want Oleh to be more united than what it is today, I have been close to HRM William A. O. Ovrawah, the Odio-ologbo of Oleh and I am going to build on that relationship to ensure we can be more united to move the community forward”.

He maintained that, in every election there must be winner and losers and congratulated the people that contested and lost. He promised to reach out to them to ensure they move the community forward.

Earlier in his welcome address, Chief Alakri expressed satisfaction with the positive turn out at the annual delegates conference, which according to him is for the good of Oleh Community.

“I encourage all of us to keep the candle of love in the interest of Oleh Community burning to achieve the height and set goals of the Community”

Chief Alakri stated that, the gruesome killing of the Oleh 12 Indigenes at Ada farmland on 16th of October 2020, was regrettable, black and glooming day in the history of Oleh Community and called for intervention by every illustrious sons and daughters.

He urged the people to be united and peaceful even as security agents and the state government are on top of the situation.

“Necessary complaints and application have been made to the security agencies and the government functionaries are already doing their investigation with the intervention process of Delta State government”.

He reiterated that, His Excellency, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, Governor of Delta State on the 22nd of December, 2020 constituted a seven-man Judicial Commission of Inquiry into the boundary dispute between Oleh and Ozoro communities headed by Hon. Justice Marcel Okoh, adding that Justice for the Oleh 12 Indigenes will soon be unvailed.

The delegates conference was supervised by the Chairman of Isoko South local government area, Sir Itiako Ikpokpo, represented by the Secretary, Mr. Kola Obrogo JP.

In attendance was clergymen, Oleh Council of Chiefs, delegates from across Delta State and Nigeria, councillors representing ward 1 and 2 and a cross section of women and youths among others.
