BASHORUN ASKIA FOUNDATION: PARAGON OF LOVE TO THE NEEDY

The Managing Director/CEO of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Bashorun (Hon) Askia Ogieh FCNA, CrFA, has through his pet project, Bashorun Askia Foundation (BAF) distributed food items and money to the elderly across Isoko nation.

Majority of Deltans, especially Isoko sons and daughters at home and in the Diaspora have continued to hail the good gesture of Odio Bashorun Askia Ogieh for repeatedly providing for youths, women, orphans, less privileged and the elderly across Isoko Nation.

The Bashorun Askia Foundation recently flagged off the humanitarian gesture at the Bashorun Askia Civic Centre, Uzere, with, Chief Mrs Grace Askia Ogieh coordinating most of the exercises with assurances of better deals ahead.

The distribution exercise, aside the Uzere flag off, was carried out in other major towns of Isoko South and North local governments respectively, to assuage the economic plight faced by the people, especially the aged in the society.

At the Oleh Civic Center, Oleh ward 1 and 2 in Isoko South local government area took their turns in the sharing of food items, just as cash was distributed alongside by Bashorun Askia Foundation.

Also at Uruto quarters open/lockup shop market in Ozoro community in Isoko North local government area, the Bashorun Askia Foundation distributed food items and money to the elderly men and women.

Oyede and Bethel communities took their turns when the Bashorun Askia Foundation, represented by Hon Mrs Blessing Uzoge, the incoming Vice Chairman of Isoko South local government area, accompanied by Hon Joyce Scott, among others distributed food items and money to the elderly men and women in these areas.

Recall that on Thursday, April 23, 2020, in the heat of the lockdown occasioned by the deadly Covid-19, President of Bashorun Askia Foundation, Odio Bashorun Askia Ogieh, FCNA, CrFA presented sundry food Items to members of the Delta State Commercial Motorcycle and Tricycle Operators Association. These items were handed to keke, okada riders, as well as non-indigenes across Isoko nation to help cushion the drastic effects on the economy.

The Bashorun Askia Foundation, had also sponsored the Isoko Health Foundation Medical Fair where medical experts embarked on free medical care, guaranteeing treatment of sons and daughters of Isoko nationality.

At the twilight of 2020,, the leadership of Isoko Development Union and traditional rulers of various kingdoms in Isoko Nation lauded the efforts of Bashorun Askia Ogieh for single handedly sponsoring Isoko language project in the foundational schools to tertiery institutions

Part of his score-card includes personal intervention and support to human capital development through various empowerment programmes across the Isoko nation and beyond.

Through the Bashorun Askia Foundation (BAF), he donated the sum of N5 Million to Isoko market women. BAF also gave a Gospel artist N3 Million for musical equipment and doled out several business funds to market women and farm seedlings to farmers, as well as encouraging entrepreneurship among youths and the womenfolk in Isoko.

Bashorun Askia Ogieh who, as Managing Director/CEO of Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), had pledged that “I Will Not Fail Our Good People Of Delta State” has continually said that his increased penchant for humanitarian services, is driven by the good intentions in the human resource policy of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s administration in Delta State.
