Ogorugba Mourns Late Maj. General Paul Omu (Rtd)

The Executive Chairman Isoko North Local Government Council, Hon. (Elder) Prince Godwin Ogorugba has Commiserated with the Omu’s family , Igbide Community and the entire Isoko Nation over the passing of their father, grandfather, leader and military mantra, late Major General Paul Ufuoma Omu (Rtd).

The Council Boss in his condolences message described the deceased as a man of valor, visionary leader and great philanthropist who has contributed immensely to the peace and unity of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, saying “the death of our father and leader is a great loss to Isoko Nation and Nigeria at large, especially now that we needed his security wealth of experience and wise counsel the most” he added.

He said late Gen. Paul Ufuoma Omu is a man of uncommon determination, steadfastness, perseverance, soldier and visionary leader, adding that, he takes solace in the belief that he lived a fruitful and fulfilled life and left a great legacy which will stand a test of time.

Ogorugba urged them to be consoled by the knowledge that late Maj Gen Omu’s Contributions to the Nigeria military, Church, Igbide community, Isoko Nation and Nigeria at large will not be forgotten, adding that he was a proud father, and leader not only to the Omu’s family but indeed to the Nigeria military, and all who came around him.

The Chairman Ogorugba said ” On behalf of my family and the good people of Isoko North Local Government Area, I Commiserated with our mother, Senator Chief (Mrs) Stella Omu, the entire Omu’s family, Igbide community, Isoko Nation and Nigeria at large, praying God Almighty to comfort the Immediate family and all those who Mourned the departed and grant his soul eternal rest.

The late Maj. Gen. Paul Ufuoma Omu who died at good age of 84 years, served as military Governor of the South-Eastern State ( Now Cross River and Akwa-Ibom States) from July 1975 to July 1978. He was also appointed Commander and Command of the staff college and member of Armed Forces Ruling council, the highest ruling body in Nigeria as at then ( 1985).
Late Maj. Gen. Omu (Rtd) was also appointed Chairman of the Constitutional Conference Commission in 1994 and He was also elected as the President General of Isoko Development Union ( IDU) in 2014 to 2015.

Beyond his military and political service, General Omu remained deeply committed to the development of his homeland, Isoko Nation and Nigeria at large. Indeed we will truly miss him.
