Delta: Igbodo People Reaffirms Commitment To Communal Growth

The people of Igbodo kingdom in Ika North-East Local Govt Area has reaffirmed their commitments to sustained growth and development of the Igbodo community.

To this end, a program tagged ”Igbodo Mass Return Home” is to be held in the community from 20th to 27th of December 2014 as part of steps by stakeholders to strategize on ways to moving the community to the next level of development.

The Chairman and Secretary of the planning committee, Dr Ndu Okonye and Comrade Nkem Nwaeke in a statement, says the one week program is to further seek ways of encouraging self help efforts among the people as well as attract the attention of govt and other development interventionist agencies towards meeting the yearnings and aspirations of the community.

The event would feature homage to the traditional ruler, crusade, free medical service, inter village football competition, lectures on career choice, cultural dance, launching of fund for an ultra modern palace as well as award and gala night.

Dr Okonye and Comrade Nwaeke in the statement disclosed that the program would attract sons and daughters of Igbodo kingdom across the globe as well as friends of the community.

Also being expected to grace the events are top govt functionaries, including officials of Delta State govt, members of the national and state houses of Assembly, officials of Ika North-East local govt council, traditional rulers and opinion leaders.

The Obi of Igbodo kingdom, Ikechukwu Osedume the first is the royal father of the events, while the Iyase of Igbodo, Dr Ifeanyi Unomah and the President-General of the community, Chief Peter Ozili Chiemeke are chief hosts.
