IKPEN OGHENETEGA Clinches GOLD @ Kogi Inter-Schools Chess Competition

IKPEN OGHENETEGA, has clinched GOLD at the 9th edition of “Kogi Inter – Schools Chess Competition” tagged SEASON 9. He won gold at the UNDER 14 MALE category.

The event which took place between 18th to 21st December 2023 was held at the Lokongoma Sports Centre Phase 2 Lokoja and had the representation of 12 Schools and 48 participants.

The competition had 4 categories namely,

  • UNDER 8 MALE
  • UNDER 8 FEMALE
  • UNDER 14 MALE
  • UNDER 14 FEMALE
  • The winners are as follows:-
    UNDER 8 MALE
    (1) ICHADO ISRAEL – GOLD

UNDER 8 FEMALE
(1) ICHADO ISABELLA – GOLD

UNDER 14 MALE
(1) IKPEN OGHENETEGA – GOLD

UNDER 14 FEMALE
(1) AJAGBE FAVOUR – GOLD.

The 9th edition of the annual Kogi Inter-Schools Chess Competition had the representation of 12 Schools and 48 participants…
which ended with winners going home with the various prizes, such as -:

  • GOLD MEDALS to all 1st place
  • SILVER MEDALS to all 2nd place
  • BRONZE MADALS to all 3 place.
    LIVE CHICKENS & NEW CHESS SETS were also given to all 1st place
    CHRISTMAS HATS to 1st, 2nd & 3rd place under- 8.
    ALL WINNERS ALSO QUALIFIED FOR STATE SPONSORSHIP TO NATIONAL EVENTS THROUGHOUT THE COMING YEAR 2024…
    NEW CHESS SETS were also given to young talents who displayed exceptional skills too…
