Convener of Progressive Mind’s and Managing Director/CEO of Uzere Cassava Processing Factory, Samuel Askia Junior, has raised nearly Three Million in less than 24 hours to cushion the effect of the lockdown in Isoko South local government area of Delta State, occasioned by the Coronavirus scourge that is currently ravaging parts of the world.
He announced the trailblazing achievement on behalf of the Progressive Minds, made up of persons who came together to show their commitment towards the amelioration of tough times being faced by the people.
The appeal and subsequent contact was greeted with several donations from friends who conscientiously contributed funds to the tune of Two Million And Seven Hundred Thousand Naira only, ( 2,7000,000) in less than 24hours.
Askia Jr who commenced the drive to raise funds for the needy in this time of Covid 19 Lockdown with a personal donation of the sum of N200,000 had appealed to people of like minds to contribute towards reaching out to the people in need.
Also recall that Samuel Askia Jr. led Progressive Minds supported the Isoko Nation Covid 19 Fundraising Committee with the sum of N100, 000.
According to the Convener, “It is with great pleasure that I announce our trailblazing achievement in the past 24hours.
“We successfully came together to show our unflinching commitment towards the amelioration of tough times by amplifying the doctrine of ” Being a Brother’s Keeper” in this greatest time of need.
“Permit me to humbly appreciate all the donors, we did great, certainly, we are indeed Progressive Minds.
“We have successfully raised Two Million And Seven Hundred Thousand Naira only, ( 2,7000,000) in 24hours.
Congratulations to us all.”
Meanwhile, for the actualisation of the goals, a Committee headed by Mr Adedayo Feyisayo Ogunnika, Manager, Unity Bank, Oleh. have been set up with a mandate to effectively appropriate the funds to the needy.
Membership of the Committee, drawn from all the Communities in Isoko South Local Government Area includes the Elderly, Youths, Men and Women as well as members of the social media community.
The rare feat put up by the Convener of Progressive Minds, Samuel Askia Jr has been largely commended.
Some persons who spoke about the achievement, described it as a divine project and welcome development to save the people who are downtrodden.
