Election Update: No Election Officials, Materials in Abigborodo @12 Noon

The Presidential and National Assembly elections in parts of Delta state is witnessing a hitch with the seemingly unpreparedness of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

At Abigborodo, Ward 6 with 4 units, Warri North Local Government Area, as at 12:10pm and one hour to the end of accredidatr exercise, there is no presence of INEC officials and electoral materials.

Incidentally, Abigborodo is the country home of Delta state Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan, who is also stranded due to lack of officials and electoral materials.

Hundreds of voters who have been milling around the voting units since 8:00am complain that there may have been a ploy by INEC to disenfranchise eligible voters in the area.

They wondered why INEC personnel and materials are unavailable to conduct electoral process.

An INEC official in Asaba however mentioned that the Commission encountered some logistics problems, assuring that the problems would be sorted out shortly.
